Becoming an ocean sailor has always been a dream for Marco Guerra. When, in 2023, he faced his first season with the Class40, immediately finishing second in the Mediterranean Trophy, at the age of 50, he said: “I am very happy, because today life gives me the opportunity to dedicate myself to a project sailing that I would have liked to tackle perhaps at 30, the average age of today’s participants in Class40”.

Marco Guerra doesn’t come from nowhere, on the contrary. His somewhat atypical career has seen him involved in almost every sector of sailing and boating in general, allowing him to acquire complete experience that few other sailors can boast. After the first years spent a bit like all children on the Optimist, he dedicated fifteen years to competitive sailing, being part of the Italian Olympic team for the 470 class and winning 13 Italian, 3 European and two world titles in 470, match racing , offshore sailing. What makes Marco Guerra’s experience unique are the years spent covering the role of general manager and skipper of teams with over 20 people and managing the largest and most important shipyards on the French Riviera for almost ten years.
